Every Skill is a Step Toward Your Destiny

Updated: Apr 9

As I look back over the years, I realize that nothing in our journey is ever wasted. Every skill we acquire, no matter how small or disparate it seems at the time, is a crucial step toward our ultimate calling.

Did you know I used to do photography waaay back in the day? That's right, capturing moments and landscapes, learning about light and settings, post-production...but most importantly, it was about telling stories.

I soon realized I loved creating conceptual photography much more than portraits (and still do), but that's not where the money was, and as a young mother, that's what was needed.

My path has been anything but linear. From design to print, administration and customer service, website building and organizational skills, and office management to business consulting – each skill has been a building block, an essential piece of the puzzle.

You might be wondering what photography or office management has to do with creating a directory, or how business consulting enhances one's ability in design? The truth is, all these skills interlace in ways we might not understand at first but make perfect sense when we look at the bigger picture.

Photography taught me the importance of perspective and attention to detail. Customer service instilled in me the value of empathy and communication. Office Management helped me learn how to grow and manage companies. Every single experience has honed my ability to create, to connect, and to lead. (It also gave me mad respect for the people who make their living through photography!)

So, if you ever find yourself questioning the value of your diverse skills, remember this: Your path is uniquely yours. Each skill you develop, no matter how unrelated it may seem, is another step toward your destiny. It's all about the bigger picture; it's those experiences that shape who we are, and guide us toward our true calling.

I hope you never feel like your past skills are behind you. Instead, see them as the foundation upon which you build your future. Everything you've learned and everything you've been through has led you to this moment. Embrace it. Your unique blend of skills is not just a list on your resume; it's the map of your journey, leading you to where you're meant to be.

As someone who has walked this path of discovery, blending seemingly non-related skills, I can assure you: Every skill matters. Keep learning, keep growing, and watch how all the pieces of your puzzle beautifully come together.

Your journey is your strength. Let it shine!
